department of the Russian art
Department of the Russian art of the National Art Museum of the Republics of Belarus exists since 1957. Petr Gerasimovich (1912-1990) was nominated as the first head of the department. Elena Resina was at the head of the department from 1964 till 2000. Tatiyana Reznik manages the department from 2000. At different years in the department of the Russian art worked R. Badin (1930-1999), N. Marchenko, E. Shaposhnikova, T. Karandasheva, M. Trofimova and others. Main direction of the department's activity is research work. The fund of the Russian art, including painting, sculpture, graphic art, decorative-applied art of the 18-20th centuries, is a pride of the museum collection. The collection of the Russian painting - one of the most significant outside of Russia.
Now the main part work on cataloging of the fund is already completed. Employees of the department under scientific editing of E. Resina prepared and published "Catalogue of the Russian and Soviet sculpture" (1977), "Catalogue of the Russian pre-revolutionary and Soviet engraving and lithography" (1984), "Catalogue of the Russian pre-revolutionary and Soviet painting" in 2 volumes (Vol.1. 1995, Vol. 2. 1997). At the this moment work is terminating on the catalogue of the original graphic art (drawing and watercolor) of the 18-20th centuries.
Employees of the department take active part in publications of the museum collections. In particular, albums edited in 2004 : "National Art Museum of the Republics of Belarus. Art of the 15- early 20th centuries ", "Treasures of the National Art Museum of the Republics of Belarus", compact disk "National Art Museum of the Republics of Belarus. Electronic catalogue of the constant exhibition", T. Reznik and E. Resina prepared sections about Russian art.
High value of the Russian art collection of the National Art Museum of the Republics of Belarus have provided its wide popularity beyond the limits of the Republic. Many masterpieces from our collection are always successfully exhibited in the museums of the distant and close foreign countries.
Together with research and exhibition activity employees of the department conduct overview and thematic excursions, as well as lectures on the Russian art history .
