The exhibition of restored icons from the museum’s collection dedicated to the birthday of Metropolitan Philaret
Metropolitan Philaret (Vakhromeev), the first Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus, had been the head of the Belarusian Orthodox Church since 1978.

Over a 35-year period, through the efforts of the Metropolitan, many Orthodox dioceses were revived, 24 nunneries and 10 monasteries were opened. Hundreds of new churches were built and destroyed ones were restored, theological schools and seminaries were opened, educational and publishing activities reached new heights.

The Metropolitan Philaret tirelessly cared about the preservation of ancient church shrines. He was interested in the museum’s restoration activities. Our specialists, restoring the monuments of Belarusian icon painting, participate in the common beneficial work of strengthening the spirituality of the people.
