Congratulations to the team of authors, to the ‘Belarus’ Publishing House and OJSC ‘Polygraph Combine named after Yakub Kolas’ with the award, and thank you for the highly professional implementation of this unique publishing project.

The album ‘Folk Art of Belarus in the 16th–21st centuries’ introduces the features of the traditional Belarusian costume and different artistic crafts. These works make it possible to form an idea of the originality of the traditional culture of the Belarusian people and their skill.

For the first time the album presents the collection of applied folk art of Belarus – coverlets, towels, costumes, pottery, carving, wood painting and straw weaving.

The edition presents some rare works which are not only of artistic interest, but they also give an idea of their functional purpose in the rituals and traditions of the Belarusian people. The authors tried to show the most archaic works as well as their further stylistic development and diversity.

The album can be bought in our museum shop.
