On 30 April 2026, at 5:00 PM, the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus (20a Lenin St., white hall) will host the opening reception of the exhibition “Mikalai Bairachny. Sculpture. In Celebration of the Artist’s 75th Birthday”.
This exhibition of sculptures by Mikalai Bairachny, a multifaceted artist who works in ceramics, easel sculpture, book illustration, and animation, is the master’s first solo showcase at the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus.
The diverse display will feature autobiographical works inspired by the lives of the artist's ancestors – his great-grandfather, grandfather, and father – as well as fairytale reimaginings of Mikalai Bairachny’s daughter, grandson, and granddaughter (series of works “When the Fairies Were Little”). A separate section of the exhibition is dedicated to unbelievably detailed animal sculptures, unique in execution and combination of materials used (marble, bronze, granite, steel, carnelian, and even wood), created by Mikalai Bairachny in collaboration with talented fellow artist Yury Gudzinovich.
Each sculpture is an engaging story, a legend, where the obvious meaning inevitably conceals a secret encoded with ancient knowledge, and romantic stories which yearn to be discovered.
All works on display are on loan from the artist’s personal archive.
The exhibition will run until 25 May 2026 in the temporary exhibitions building of the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus (24 K. Marx Street, hall 3).
