On 15 June 2026 at 3:00 PM, the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus (20 Lenin Street, transitional gallery) will host the opening reception of the exhibition “The Spirit and Beauty of Zhongyuan Ceramics: Exhibition of Art from Henan Province”. The project is organised by the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus, the Henan Ceramic Art Association, and the Henan China Industrial and Commercial Association (People’s Republic of China).
Today, porcelain is an integral part of Chinese culture. Since the Ming dynasty (1368–1644), porcelain has been produced in imperial workshops (including those in the province of Henan), the activities of which were overseen by the supreme ruler of China. To this day, artisans create their works in the same kilns and in the same places where they have been crafted for centuries.
The works on display are part of this ancient Henan tradition, its
centuries-old history and significance.
The exhibition features objects representing various traditional porcelain techniques, from celadons created according to the principle of Dan (restraint and laconic beauty) to striking polychrome porcelain pieces with unique, complex shapes and colours.
“The Spirit and Beauty of Zhongyuan Ceramics: Exhibition of Art from Henan Province” is not only an opportunity to appreciate the diversity of traditional arts but also a symbol of hope for the further development of cultural exchange between Belarus and China.
The exhibition aims to reflect the everyday aspects of traditional Chinese life, its diversity and inner essence.
The display includes more than 30 works by contemporary Chinese masters, crafted in accordance with the ancient ceramic tradition of Henan.
“The Spirit and Beauty of Zhongyuan Ceramics: Exhibition of Art from Henan Province” is on view from 15 to 28 June 2026 in the transitional gallery (20 Lenin Street, 2nd floor).
