The exhibition “Anthology of beauty. Traditional belarusian costume”
The National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus (exhibition building, 24 Karl Marx Street) opens the exhibition “Anthology of Beauty. Traditional Belarusian Costume” at 6.00 pm on September 9. The exhibition is carried out under the annual event “September Night” devoted to the Minsk City Day.

 

The large exhibition project reflects the bright regional and local features of folk costume from six ethnographic regions in Belarus (Western Paliessie, Eastern Paliessie, Padzvinnie, Padniaproŭje, Paniamónnie and Central Belarus). It demonstrates the latest achievements in the study of this issue on the example of reconstructions of clothing items and ways of wearing numerous women’s headdresses.

The exhibition displays the works of traditional Belarusian weaving from the collection of decorative, applied and folk art, as well as Belarusian original graphics and printed graphics, Belarusian paintings from the collection of the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus. The exhibition is supplemented by unique items from the funds of the Old Belarusian History Museum of the Center for Research of Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Belarusian State Museum of Folk Architecture and Rural Lifestyle, the Museum Complex of History and Culture of Orshanshchyna, the Grodna State Historical and Archeological Museum, the Vitebsk Regional History Museum, the Vitebsk Regional Methodological Center of Folk Art, the Senno House of Crafts, the Garadok House of Crafts and Folklore, as well as Mikhas Ramaniuk’s expedition photos from the private collection of Dzianis Ramaniuk.

Can I enter in the outdoor clothes?

No, it is not according to the museum rules. Please, leave it in the cloacroom. 

What should I leave in the cloakroom?

All oversized bags, backpacks and packages larger than 30x40x20 cm, as well as umbrellas, must be checked in to the cloakroom or left in the storage room. Bottles of water cannot be brought into the exposition, you can drink water in the lobby or museum cafe on the 1st floor.
