1986

  • Born in Mogilev, the Republic of Belarus

2005

  • Graduated with honours from the Ivan Akhremchik College of Arts of the Republic of Belarus with a specialisation in painting

2008

  • Admitted as a member to the International Association of Artists “Slikarski uranak” (Serbia)

2004, 2009, 2010

— Stipendiary (2004), Laureate (2009) and Diploma Recipient (2010) of the Special Fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for the Support of Talented Youth

2011

  • Graduated with honours from the Belarusian State Academy of Arts (Art Department, with a specialisation in easel painting). At the Academy, she studied under Professor Mai Dantsig, People’s Artist of Belarus
  • Admitted as a member to the Belarusian Union of Artists

2012

  • Completed master’s studies in Art History at the Belarusian State Academy of Arts
  • Started teaching at the Subdepartment of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture of the Belarusian State Academy of Arts in October 2012

2015

  • Completed postgraduate studies at the Research Centre for Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus
  • Won a scholarship of the President of the Republic of Belarus for postgraduate students

2016

  • Defended her Ph.D thesis “Functions of Light in Belarusian Easel Painting in the 20th – early 21st century”, receiving a degree in Art History 
  • Delegate of the Fifth All-Belarusian People’s Assembly

2017

  • Appointed Dean of the Art Department, Associate Professor of the Subdepartment of Painting at the Belarusian State Academy of Arts
  • Awarded the Commendation of the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Belarus for many years of dedicated work, high professionalism and excellence in duties
  • Participated in the II Congress of Scientists of the Republic of Belarus

2019

  • Anna Kononova’s portrait painting “Young José Marti” was gifted by the President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko to the President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez during the Presidents’ meeting on 23 October, 2019 at the Palace of Independence

2020

  • Awarded the Certificate of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus for fruitful artistic, scientific, pedagogical activities and high professionalism
  • Received the President’s Grant for Science, Education, Healthcare and Culture in 2020, which was subsequently used to create a series of portrait paintings titled “Belarusian Cultural Figures in Professional Arts”. The paintings were unveiled on 21 May, 2021 at the Belarusian State Academy of Arts to coincide with the 75th anniversary of the foundation of the Academy 

2022

  • Appointed Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Associate Professor of the Painting Subdepartment of the Belarusian State Academy of Arts in March 2022
  • Awarded the Commendation of the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Belarus for active participation in the 16th Open Delphic Youth Games of the CIS Member States

2023

  • Appointed Director General of the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus on 14 June, 2023

2024

  • Received a master’s degree in Law and Management at the Academy of Management of the President of the Republic of Belarus
  • Awarded the Certificate of Excellence of the Belarusian Trade Union of Workers of Culture, Information, Sports and Tourism

Anna Kononova’s works are in the collections of the Belarusian State Academy of Arts, the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus, the National History Museum of the Republic of Belarus, the Republican Clinical Health Care Centre of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Belarus, the Pavel Maslenikov Mogilev Regional Art Museum, the Mogilev History Museum, the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local History as well as in galleries and private collections in Belarus, Russia, Montenegro, Serbia, France, Germany, Spain, China, Vietnam and many other countries.

Where can I park an automobile?

The closest parking spot is along the Karl Marx Str. (paid parking)

Can I enter in the outdoor clothes?

No, it is not according to the museum rules. Please, leave it in the cloacroom. 

What should I leave in the cloakroom?

All oversized bags, backpacks and packages larger than 30x40x20 cm, as well as umbrellas, must be checked in to the cloakroom or left in the storage room. Bottles of water cannot be brought into the exposition, you can drink water in the lobby or museum cafe on the 1st floor.
